The NDIS Commission has expanded mandatory registration requirements, bringing thousands of providers into the registered market who previously operated unregistered.
From 1 July 2026, four new Practice Standards came into effect for providers delivering Assistance with Supported Independent Living (SIL), alongside changes for Platform Providers. Providers delivering these supports must have their NDIS registration application lodged by 1 October 2026 to continue operating. Providers who have not applied by this date must immediately stop delivering Supported Independent Living services, as continuing to deliver these supports unregistered may breach the NDIS Act.

Support Coordination was also identified for mandatory registration, but this reform is currently paused, but remains a likely next step, and providers should prepare early. Separately, while Community Participation services are not yet mandatory to register, the NDIS has announced that from January, hourly price limits for unregistered providers will be 10% lower than those available to registered providers.
