01Your Pathway
Why Developmental Educators Are Usually Specialist
Your registration pathway is not decided by your profession, your qualifications or your size. It is decided by the registration groups that cover the supports you deliver, and each group is classified by the risk of that support.
Work of this kind generally falls into groups that attract the specialist pathway. Specialist is certification with one or more supplementary modules on top of the Core Module. The extra module is what applies to higher-risk supports — high intensity personal activities, specialist behaviour support, early childhood, specialised support coordination. It means deeper evidence and more scrutiny of practitioners.
That is the usual position, not a determination. If you also deliver something from a higher-risk group, your whole registration moves to the more demanding pathway; there is no partial pathway. We confirm your groups with you before you pay.
An independent NDIS-approved quality auditor assesses all four. They are a separate business, they set their own fee and you pay them directly. EnableUs partners with an approved auditor to get you good pricing.

FAQ
NDIS Registration for Developmental Educators
Do Developmental Educators need to be NDIS registered?
Not always. Plan-managed and self-managed participants can engage unregistered providers for most supports, and plenty of practitioners work that way. What you cannot do unregistered is work with NDIA-managed participants, which closes off a large part of the market. Whether that matters is a commercial question, and it is the first thing we work through with you.
Which registration pathway applies to developmental educator?
Work of this kind usually attracts the specialist pathway, because of the registration groups it falls under. If you deliver anything from a higher-risk group as well, the whole registration moves to the more demanding pathway. We confirm your groups against the current list rather than assuming.
What does it cost?
Our fee for the Specialist package is $2,499, fixed and agreed before we start. On top of that is the independent auditor, who sets their own fee based on your size, your groups and whether the audit is remote or on site. Applying to the NDIS Commission itself is free.
How long does it take?
Your documentation arrives within 24 hours of starting. After that it depends on how quickly your evidence comes together, your auditor’s availability and current Commission processing times.
Are the documents written for my business or are they templates?
Customised to your business from a short intake form. The Commission has been explicit that applications assembled from purchased document packs can be refused, and documentation that describes an organisation you are not is a common reason an audit goes badly.
